I hope that you all had a good Christmas and saw in the New Year with much style and vigor that was possible ......

Jam and cake sale

A big thank you for Angie and Kirsty Rothwell for their superb jams and marmalade, also to the wonderful bakers who bought in their cakes to sell.   They raised £206 towards Christ Church funds.  Again many thanks for all your hard work....


Church Gates


Thanks go to Tom Entwistle,Thomas Drinkall, Kenny Leece & Keith France for widening the church gates, so that access could be made easier for larger vehicles, it is very much appreciated.

Recycling of Xmas trees

For those of you that had a real tree for Christmas, but are unsure as to how to dispose of them if you're not replanting in the garden.... Then you can contact Rosie Prest on Rosemarieprest@icloud.com to arrange collection.  A suggested donation of £10 to be made and all money collected will be split between our 3 churches in the parish.


Collections of trees are as follows:

Dolphinholme     -    Saturday 8th January

Abbeystead        -    Sunday 9th January

Quernmore        -    Monday 10th January

2nd    11.00am    BCP

9th       5.30pm    Family Service

16th    11.00am    Holy Communion

23rd     3.30pm   Tractor Service (no Evensong this month)

30th    10.15am    Benefice at St Peters Quernmore


Saturday 8th - St Marks Church Forest School - Meeting at Myerscough College 10.00am.  Please see attached for further information.


Sunday 9th - Swallows and Amazons  -  Sessions available are 10.30am-12.30pm and or 1.00pm-3.30pm.  Contact Jackie Entwistle if you wish to book your children on either or both of these sessions.


Sunday 9th - Mini Forest Youth Group for Minis  - 4.30pm - 5.30pm at Christ Church.  Please let Jackie Entwistle know if your children will be attending for catering purposes.

Wed 19th - Annual Church Whist and Domino   Starting at 7.30pm entry £3.00 at Over Wyresdale Parish Hall. All proceeds will go to Christ Church. Please if you can donate any raffle prizes, you can drop them over at Lentworth or with Frances Atkinson. Please let Frances know if you are able to provide and traybakes too. Traybakes if you are able to rustle up any to be dropped off at the village hall on the night.

Sunday 16th - PIE Youth Group - Working this month with the Butterfly Conservation and helping them on their Myers Allotment Reserve in Silverdale.

Wild Wednesdays

Every Wednesdays - term time only 10.00am -11.30am A parent and toddler group is starting up in Abbeystead. It will run during term time, this term there will be 5 sessions starting 12 January. There will be a different theme each week, with a range of activities. A snack and drink is provided for grown ups as well as children. Each session will be £7 for toddler and adult. Please book in advance either by email, text or fb.



Sunday 23rd - Tractor Service at Christ Church - There will be no Evensong on this day, we will be blessing our tractors, big and small at our 3.30pm service.


Applications for Cawthorne Endowed School

Parents can now start to apply for primary places starting in September 2022 at www.lancashire.gov.uk/schools. This year the information packs have been published online only. If you would like a hard copy of the packs then please let Cawthorne know. The deadline to apply for a school place for September 2022 is 15th January 2022.

If you know of any parents locally and around the Lancaster area that are searching for a place for their children, please pass this information on.  They are welcome to contact the school during term time and arrange a visit to the school along with their children.
